International Islamic University Malaysia
Bismillah and Asslamualaikum to all my blog readers. Even though blogger is almost old school platform for today's generations because too many social platforms exist these days I still preferred to post entry in my Blogspot for certain conditions . Of course, I don't want to talk about the advantages of this technology in this post but I want to share with you guys about my University.
Today, I have received my final semester as Bachelor's Degree student in IIUM. Alhamdulillah, I have past my degree journey with flying colors. First of all, of course, I already thanked my parents for paying for my degree slip, I also want to thank my fellow friends, and my lecturers as well for the knowledge they provide me.
I feel blessed and thankful to my 2015 me for choosing IIUM as my first choice University. Spent my 1 year and a half for foundation study in Petaling Jaya Campus and 3 years and a half Degree in Gombak Campus are almost the best days in my life.
I learn the English Language
Since my secondary school was known as an Arabic-pro school of course my English language was worst. I still remember the day I took EPT test, I got only Band 4 because I literally know nothing about English Grammar. I crawling to learn basic grammar standard three alone in my room because I malu kalau orang nampak I belajar basic grammar. Day by day, I mula tengok English movies with English subtitles, listen to English songs and look at their scripts. Year by year, I became confident to speak and write in English and now I even writing my blog entry in this language and I am very proud of myself. To add, I even being my friends' references to check their essays including grammar, sentence structure, and pronunciation. Alhamdulillah.
Study Plan
I took overall seven semesters for my Degree equivalent to three years and a half. Okay guys, untuk tempoh degree dalam UIA ni between three to four years tau. Korang boleh pilih nak berapa semesters korang nak ambik. Tak ramai yang ambik three years of course, tapi average akan ambik three years and a half tapi ada je yang ambik four years. Kalau macam dalam department I, IRKHS department. Overall credit hours yang korang akan ambik are 131 credit hours tau including 6 credit hours for internship (which is during short semester) and 6 credit hour for Final Year Project (yang korang akan ambik dua semester akhir). Ada je yang ambik Internship dulu before FYP dan ada yang ambik in between, it depends on you. About pre-registration course, please setting your target at least during your first year study kalau tak nanti you akan menyesal. Kalau macam I, I budget dalam satu semester tu tak lebih daripada 6 final papers and I nak study rilex je so I campur subjects from University Course, Core Course and also Elective Course and average credit hour in a semester is 18 credit hours.
IIUM Environment is such an Aesthetic Vibe
Alhamdulillah I sempat merasa face-to-face classes for 5 semesters before everything is online and the things that I missed the most about IIUM is of course la the food ! For spicy person like me I love Bilal's and Econ's Gepuk but I prefered Econs the most, Shawarma at Ruqayyah & Zouq Cafe, Nasi Ayam Rempah Hafsa, mixed sausage / chicken Aminah, Nasi Kerabu & Chicken Chop HS Cafe and of course Meggi di pagi buta because staying until late night almost our everyday routine.
Instead of the food, I missed the 'busy' surrounding especially during weekdays. I love to pause a while at the Sungai Tea Beng infront of Azman Hashim Building and keep eyes on people when I back from my classes. (and of course I tak akan pilih classes up tp 5pm). and guys, selalunya kalau gap between zohor tu kan, IIUM Shah Mosque antara tempat paling nyenyak untuk tidur even tak ada bantal tak ada selimut tapi nyenyak tu sampai kadan-kadang azan zohor pun tak dengar tau.
Fun fact: IIUM sky is even prettier at night. That's why, kalau ada skills classes I akan berpakat dgn my friends to choose the night session because we IIUM communities loves to take a walk under the IIUM night's sky.
Every 8 AM during weekdays, satu Campus akan bergema Asma'ul Husna from Admin Building as our alarm to classes. Tapi kan, starting year two, I dah tak ambik kelas pukul 8;30AM because I am not a morning person. Okay, some additional information. our classes schedule especially in my department is 8:30AM-9:50AM, 10:00AM-11:20AM, 11:30AM-12:50PM, (Zuhr Gap), 2:00PM-3:20PM, 3:30PM-4:50PM and 5:00PM-6.50PM.
Im not talking to much about Dar Al-Hikmah Library because obviously I am not a library person Hehehe. Tapi ada sometimes jugak lah yang I boleh kira dengan jari berapa kali je I pergi Library sepanjang I kat dalam kampus.I prefered to use PDF or resources online and holding soft copies version instead of handling books. Cuma ada satu port dkt dalam Library yang I paling suka, which is Level 3, the quite zone yang view dia boleh nampak Masjid, I pernah duduk dekat situ twice rasanya untuk siapkan my assignments during my third year. Tapi I lagi suka berfree style dlm bilik Mahallah.
Mahallah
In IIUM, Block asrama untuk students we called it 'Mahallah' not Marhalah. I stayed at Mahallah Ameenah and tak pernah tukar Mahallah sebab Ameenah best even orang kata tak ada privacy sebab satu compartment share dua orang tapi bagi I best sbb roomates I semua best ! Dalam Gombak campus ada 17 Mahallahs. Details boleh "tengok sini". All students can choose to stay in campus, tak ramai local students yang sewa rumah luar tapi ada je beberapa International Students yang rent house area Taman Melati especially yang dah berkawin. Hostel fee for every semester RM510. Cumanya, every year of study students kena choose new room, if korang berpakat dengan your friends, kalau ada luck baru dapat satu bilik sama-sama, kalau takda luck terpaksalah dapat roomate baru. Every weekends pulak I jarang duduk diam-diam dalam bilik sebab lagi suka keluar tengok dunia. Macam yang you guys well-informed yang Gombak ni between KL - Pahang kan. So daripada dalam Campus boleh pick T200 RapidKL bus untuk pergi LRT Gombak Station pastu pergilah korang nak gi mana.
Graduated
and now I am officially IIUM product and one from my wishlists to graduate as Rector's List student become true, Alhamdulillah. My fellow degree mates, see you during our convocation day!
